Below is Part Two of “Do It Yourself” Solutions: Troubleshooting File Issues.
TROUBLESHOOTING FILE ISSUES
On occasion, you may encounter various issues with your files. Follow these steps to solve this issue and keep your frustrations to a minimum.
STEP 1: DETERMINE IF A REBUILD WAS DONE
In the file, hit F2. In the dialogue box, look at "Versions Used on File" and then "RB" to determine if a rebuild was done.
If the answer to this question is yes, a rebuild has been done, it is recommended by Intuit to restore the file from the backup created during the rebuild. All work since the rebuild will be lost.
If no, continue on to step 2.
STEP 2: RUN THE FILE DOCTOR
- Make sure that Intuit Sync Manager is not running. If necessary, select Exit Sync Manager and then go toHelp>Manage Data Sync>Clear Sync Settings.
- Once this is completed, go toFile>Close Company/Logoffto close out of the file and then File>Utilities>Repair File and Network Problems.
- Select the file and then select to check for both file damage and network connectivity.
STEP 3: VERIFY
Once the file doctor is successful, make sure to verify by going to File>Utilities>Verify Data. If you are prompted to rebuild, then do so. Otherwise, the process is complete.
Note: If the file doctor is not successful, contact Intuit support for assistance.
