Hosted QuickBooks Tip of the Week: Network Error Trying to Access Your Applications

If you are getting the following error when trying to launch your application, you may have accidentally installed Browser Safeguard – this is a sneaky add-on that is installed alongside other software.  It is not malicious in nature; however, it does prevent our applications from launching.

The error reads:

Unable to launch your application. Contact your help desk with the following information.  Cannot connect to the Citrix Xenapp server network issues are preventing your connection. Please try again. If the problem persists, please call your help desk.

If you are experiencing the problem, you will want to look down by your clock in Windows, in the notification area, for an icon that looks like a gray shield. If you right-click and select Exit that should allow Swizznet applications to launch, however the program will start up the next time the computer is rebooted.

To uninstall it for good, please go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features (or Programs), and locate Browser Safeguard in the list of installed programs. Right-click on it and select to Remove or Uninstall.
